Joshua S. Bell Work Experience McLeodUSA, Cedar Rapids, IA (4/97- Present) McLeodUSA Inc. is an integrated telecommunications services provider, bundling local and long distance phone service with dial-up internet access, high speed cable internet access, cable television and internet connectivity for residential and small business customers. McLeodUSA operates in 14 states with over 7,500 Internet customers, and 50,000 local telephone customers. My previous duties include being the contact point for internal and external customers in regards to various corporate information. I also ran the user add process, making sure that the customers to be added and or removed from the service are handled appropriately My responsibilities also included filing order requests for internet software. I also took care of some basic administration duties of my team, including schedule conflicts, and second level technical support. My duties as a phone technician include telephone support for McLeodUSA dial-up Internet access, connectivity issues with Windows Dial-up Networking, MacTCP and Open Transport, and Internet applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Internet Explorer 2.0-5.0, Eudora, Claris Emailer, and Netscape Navigator/Communicator 2.0-4.X. I also created the Macintosh software package for new dial-up customers, as well as internal training documents to assist other technicians with resolving Macintosh support issues. Ideal Computer Systems, Cedar Rapids, IA (11/98-7/99) Ideal Computer Systems provides a business management application for over 600 resellers of outdoor power equipment and the hearth and home industry nationwide. My duties at Ideal include telephone support and on-site installation of the entire product, including the business management software, PC hardware, Windows 95/98 operating system, and Windows peer-to-peer and Novell 2.2 through 4.2 networks, and physical network layout. I am also part of the Year 2000 project, updating customers' software, hardware and networks to Year 2000 compliance. The Computer Guys, Iowa City, IA (10/97-11/98) The Computer Guys is a local computer upgrade and repair shop. I provided diagnosis and repair for Macintosh hardware and software either in the office or at customers' sites.
Other Knowledge and Personal Experience Operating Systems: Expert level knowledge of MacOS 7 and later; familiar with Windows 3.1/95/98/NT and Unix (Red Hat Linux, LinuxPPC, and FreeBSD). Hardware Support: Familiar with both Macintosh and PC hardware repair. Software: Microsoft Office products on both Macintosh and Windows platforms, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Netscape Navigator/Communicator for Macintosh and Windows, Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh and Windows, GoLive CyberStudio for Macintosh, Macromedia Dreamweaver for Macintosh and Windows, Adobe Photoshop for Macintosh and Windows.
